Co-founded by Michael Sandler and Jessica Lee, RunBare is the premiere educational and informational resource for everything barefoot running and barefoot walking, as well as race training, nutrition, well-being and physical and mental wellness.
Challenge:
Michael and Jessica had published a new book, “Barefoot Running: How To Run Light And Free By Getting In Touch With The Earth” and needed to boost sales and awareness. Many people had heard of the concept but looked at barefoot running with trepidation. They didn’t know where to start or how to do it safely.
Solution:
In order encourage participation and decrease skeptics, we decided to meet one-on-one with runners and athletes through a 17-city National Barefoot Running media tour. Through speaking engagements and workshops at REI locations and local running stores, we could show runners how to tackle barefoot running safely and supercharge the barefoot running movement.
Results:
Through the media tour the RunBare community skyrocketed in size. During the tour 72 media placements were secured and hundreds of books were sold. Media placements included the Sacramento Bee, Albuquerque Journal, Daily Camera, Loveland Reporter-Herald, SLC Weekly, Competitor Magazine, Denver Daily News, and The Oregonian as well as television segments in Denver, Grand Junction, Sacramento, Spokane, Seattle, Albuquerque, Phoenix and several radio interview spots. Due to the popularity of the tour, RunBare was able to secure additional book opportunities based on a track record previous success. Watch the RunBare TV segment on ABC Denver.
